The pandemic of youth unemployment is a global phenomenon. In South Africa, it is a problem that threatens the very fabric of a young and diverse society. We at SeeSayDo firmly believe that innovation coupled with market-appropriate technology can help solve the daily challenges experienced by the global majority. The immense challenge of youth unemployment in South Africa is one such challenge.
In partnership with Microsoft, SeeSayDo is using mobile to power the Youthworks platform. The goal is simple; reach 1 million young people with the locally-relevant content that makes them more employable. In addition; partners across the NGO space will help provide job/internship opportunities to these youth. For the global majority; mobile phones are are a means to bring about more than just cool apps and pretty photos; they are a means to positive and disruptive social change. The SeeSayDo process allows young people to earn airtime, data, cash and other incentives as they interact with the content that makes them more employable on the Youthworks platform. They will interact with this content and these job opportunities through their smart and “dumb” phones all the while earning as they learn.
We will keep you updated with the progress and set backs as we work with incredible partners to meet this challenge through innovation, grit and mobile.
